If I stay – Gayle Forman

“Sometimes you make choices in life, and sometimes choices make you  . . .” – Gayle Forman

A novel by Gale Forman

Anyone who knows me, know that reality-fiction is not my typical cup of tea, however let me tell you, I WAS PLEASEANTLY SURPRISED!

Upon seeing the initial trailer – and let’s face it, we’ve all either seen it, or the movie by now! – I thought it looked relatively interesting. So I immediately went out, purchased a copy of said book, and began reading almost at once.

Astonished was I, it was near impossible to put down!

Though to be entirely honest with you guys , there are some parts in the book – the dangerously high amount flashbacks to be precise – which slightly bored me half to death. Nevertheless was the actual story part not only intriguing, but very, very original indeed.

In attempt of summarizing this novel for you, it writes about a girl, Mia, who gets in a tragic car accident with her family, thereafter ending up in the hospital. There she wakes up, outside of her body somehow, and is only able to look over everything that happens in silence. As if she was dead.
The story frequently visits the past, and rotates more around her family and boyfriend than actually Mia herself.

Forman’s writing style is easy to read, and doesn’t urge much concentration to understand. I don’t know about you guys, but I personally hate it when having to scavenge for a dictionary, and channel my inner Shakespeare, just to understand the context of one sentence!
– Thank you Jane Austin! –

Surprisingly, there is in fact a second written book to this story, only I haven’t yet located it in any of my local bookstores. So if, and when, any of you have read the above fantastic book, please feel free to comment down below!

Happy reading, and see you again soon!
